What is an energy renovation?
Energy renovations are renovations that involve improving the energy efficiency of the building and/or adopting new, renewable energy sources in the building. Energy renovations are typically a combination of various measures.
For blocks of flats, energy renovations can mean the adoption of geothermal heating systems or the installation of a heat recovery system, for example. This kind of energy renovations can be carried out even between major renovations as they are often beneficial as is, and the dwelling can continue to be used as normal during an energy renovation.
For some renovations, it may be more cost-effective to wait for the next major renovation: for example, it may not be worth installing solar panels on the roof of a building just before a roof renovation, which would require removing them. When planning window and facade renovations, you should explore the possibilities for additional thermal insulation for the windows, roof and facades, for example. In principle, it’s possible to improve the energy efficiency of a housing company and reduce energy costs in almost all renovations.
